We are Thankful

Hi Family and Friends,

The month of November has flown by. I can't believe it's already December. One highlight in November was the Thanksgiving holiday. We were invited to spend Thanksgiving with Becky's sister's family up in Michigan. We had Thanksgiving with them a few years ago before they went on an international assignment to China. Back then, we were living in Indianapolis and it was a 5 hour drive. Now that we're in Ohio, it's only a 3 hour drive.

Becky's parents and two of her sisters were also able to be there. The kids seemed to have a great time with their cousins. Unfortunately, I was very sick. One thing I was thankful for was not passing my illness on to anyone else.

A tradition that has been established the past few years is the annual shopping spree that occurs the Friday after Thanksgiving. The preparations for the event start on Thursday afternoon as Becky and her sister's scour the ads in the newspapers looking for the best deals on the items they have on their Christmas lists. Their strategic planning would impress Michael Porter at Harvard. Then the fun really begins when they leave the house at 4:30 am to venture out to the jungles of retail America. I stay home with the kids to play games and watch football on TV.

Another highlight during Thanksgiving week was watching Brooke begin to walk more independently. She still has difficulty standing by herself, but once she is up, she is able to walk quite a distance without falling down. She's even started to master the art of changing directions, although it tends to follow the pattern of a NASCAR race - always turn left!

We are very thankful for the tremendous blessings in our lives. We have been blessed with so much and are looking forward to the Christmas season.

Love,

Barr, Becky, and family

I hope this will post, or else I might give up on "comments!" Glad your Thanksgiving was so special, sorry about the illness, Barr. And to hear about Brooke's accomplishments - the very best! I remember the mad dash of crazy shoppers the day after Thanksgiving. I've seen it done her by your mom and company! Take care, we love you!

It sounds like you guys had a great time!

The only draw back to Thanksgiving this year...Denver lost to KC. I'm absolutely certain that most of you would agree to that!

Quick self promotion moment - Barr you need to get Herbal Life's "Best Defence" product. I know that Airborn is out there but this is so much better. It would have helped you stave off your illness. Any questions? You know who to call. (My sister) Ok enough of that.

Monica did the shopping thing this year too - I don't think we'll make it a tradition. Course next year she will probably have forgotten about all the pushing and shoving and and poor old lady in the wheel chair getting knocked over...so you never know!

What great news it is to hear about Brooke! She's such a doll! What a blessing she is! We think of you all and especially of her often and your trip to our part of the world this past August. Hope to see you all again soon. Oh - and hey - NASCAR racing is very popular nowadays.

I hope you all enjoy a wonderous christmas season!

Love you all!

Thanks for keeping us up to date on life in Ohio.
We sure miss you all - especially this time of year at church. Normally, you would be singing and playing the piano with us. We have good music memories together. I'll bet your ward utilizes those talents.
The two Fishers wards are so big it's unbelievable that we were one ward at this time last year.
Have a marvelous Christmas, and I can appreciate the important milestone in Brooke's walking. Keep up the great work with Brooke!
God bless you all!
Marie
